3. The worse neighborhood of squirrels I ever encounterd were in the Grand Canyon |
|
those little bastards out witted me at every turn. When you are camping you have to hang your freeze dried rations in a nylon draw sack on these giants coat hanger like things they set up. It was raining so I put a plastic cover on it. That was all those bandits needed. They used the plastic for grip and crewed through the line to drop my food down to their waiting friends. I lost food and got yelled at by the rangers.

4. I ran into some raccoons in central Florida years ago, |
|
who could open coolers, unscrew tops off jars.
I was robbed blind in the Florida Everglades by a group of turkey buzzards who slunk in while I was out canoeing. Nothing left and they were just standing there when I came back, looking evil.

7. lol, I could just picture those evil looking turkey buzzards |
|
the third night camping the ranger told us to leave our packs open. They said the racoons and such would prefer if we left them that way.

10. True, but you're supposed to make sure the food is out of the pack - the idea is that |
|
the rodents will chew into a closed pack to investigate, but will just poke their heads in an open pack, observe the absence of food, and move on...

14. in the 70s a freaking ground squirrel BIT me at the grand canyon |
|
and they're just as big and ugly today -- i was there recently and one of them was boldly rummaging through someone's purse (folks don't leave your purse sitting around on the trails while you do whatever...) and the same squirrel also stole part of my lunch practically out of my damn hands
wtf????

It's a heron who enjoys flashing me when I'm sitting on my porch minding my own business.

15. well give benefit of the doubt, maybe they were worried about distemper or something |
|
however in that case i might have called fish and wildlife rather than the police

They were even lurking near the tents.
