Mysterious illness ravaging rural China
DANCHANG, CHINA. (A.P) Doctors are baffled by a mysterious illness that seems to be spreading among China's rural villages. Due to the restrictive nature of the Chinese Communist Party, the exact number of cases is unknown, but it is believed to be around 3 dozen.

Kwang Jing-Shu, a local doctor in New Danchang, has personally seen five cases in New Danchang.

"I've never seen anything like it," Mr. Jing-Shu said. "The full effects of this disease, or whatever it is, is absolutely horrifying."

Chinese governmental officials have so far been hush hush. One official, speaking on condition of anonymity, says that everything is under control and that everything's going to be all right.

Edited on Mon Aug-24-09 10:02 PM by charlie and algernon
BEIJING, CHINA (Reuters) A new disease ravaging western China has doctors "Horrified."

"I've never seen anything like it," KwangJing-Shu, a doctor said. "The full effects of this disease, or whatever it is, is absolutely horrifying."

Reports are sketchy, so it is hard to discern fact from fiction, but some locals are claiming the victims turn to canabalism. Residents of New Danchang are terrified of the victims, says Jing-Shu.

"I really hope the Ministry of Health takes action, and quick."

6. reports are still pretty sketchy. China has blocked both Twitter and Facebook
Ever since the AP report came out, China seems to be systematically shutting down all websites like Twitter and Facebook.

12. it must be pretty serious.
I'm hearing China is building up its forces in the Taiwan Strait just to distract from the disease.
