2. Good luck - and what's so bad about third?
I thought most violinists hate second?

4. its just uncomfortable for me...
i have unusuially large hands for a violinist, so my palm hits the heal of the neck and it makes it hard to hit some of the notes, oh well, dont suppose it matters.

9. Hmmmm. Ever consider another instrument?
I have a friend who teaches and fixes/sells violins. He also has big hands, and is quite good at fitting the fiddle to the fiddler. You may be very attached to your instrument; perfectly understandable, but you might just want to drop this guy a note & see what he thinks.

3. I kinda know how you feel
I have an oral exam on Friday so that I can graduate from my Master's program -- I have to be prepared to discuss Israeli-Palestinian stuff, the transition in Iraq, European Union expansion, and the future of international humanitarian law for an hour with three experts

Good Luck!

10. take 4-6 bars at a time, especially those w/ the sharps,
Edited on Thu Mar-18-04 11:24 AM by Bertha Venation
and run just those bars over and over and over and over and over again. Slowly at first until you can play it perfectly. Then slowly work up to tempo -- and then run it several times at tempo. Repeat for every difficult section.

Best of luck to you!
