I still have the shivers.... :scared: About as bad as spraying blood with a John Deere! ;)
And what the hell was Don thinking, anyway?

|

6. I think I read that the show's creator |
|
said he didn't want the show to deal with JFK assassination very much, because it has been done so much on tv/movies. Don't know how they could totally ignore it though.

11. Except Don picks the right women. |
|
Betty is exactly what he needs--a woman who demands he puts down roots and is trying to get him to share his life instead of compartmentalizing. He even picks classy mistresses.
Peggy is still picking men who she can dump with no cost to herself. Her only mistake was Pete. Note her line, "Stop coming in here and infecting me with your anxiety." Yes, Peggy, his anxiety... and his sperm.

7. Would people hate Duck as much if he hadn't dumped his dog |
|
out on Madison Avenue? I used to kind of feel sorry for him, especially when his wife and kids visited him and let him know he wasn't really missed around the house. But then he got rid of Chauncey and I was just DONE!

8. Was the hillbilly hallucination supposed to represent his father? |
|
I missed a few "Don's mysterious background" episodes so I'm confused.

10. Yes, it was his father (same actor). |
|
Season three's moving slow enough that you won't miss too much by missing this year's eps. This is really about Don being in power because, I think, his father was a powerless man.

16. This episode was confusing with the flash forward and back |
|
It was only when the program ended and started over, immediately, that we noticed that Betty is lying down in the sofa that the guy from the governor office recommended. Later.

9. She always picks the wrong man. |
|
Ha ha. Duck's at least quit drinking again. And it's not like he romanced her. He was all, "Baby, I'm gonna drag you into the bed room and cook you up brown." And she totally fell for it.
By the way, I continue to point out how the writers of Mad Men never waste a single word in their dialog. There's a clue to Duck in how he said "lock the door" in his naughty little proposal. I'm convinced Peggy's gonna get pregnant again, if not this time, then soon enough.
She doesn't want what she can't have, she wants what she shouldn't have. But the best knock down of this week was Don being forced to sign the contract. Betty totally nailed him on his failure to commit to it. It's not about holding the power, it's about having the power to run away again.

12. I totally get Peggy - she's breaking the rules because she, for once in her life, can |
|
She is out of that horrible religious home she came from, away from her loathing sister and mother.
And she's on her own - she can make the bad decision, but for once in her life its her decision.
Its her way of saying "FUCK YOU I DON'T WANT YOU TELLING ME WHAT TO DO ANYMORE"

|
...because Don had dressed her down. She's going to become a sex addict that way.

15. I haven't watched it yet. Usually I watch all the Mad Men episodes on a cold, snowy weekend |
|
For awhile it was on during some of my favorite HBO shows, but I do think it's a very well done show.
