Anyone else here mightily inconvenienced right now by "America's Most Convenient Bank"?
Just have to vent --

TD Bank has been shut down, for all intents and purposes, since yesterday. Their customer service phone line is down, and although debits are being posted to accounts, the system is not posting deposits. This means my direct deposit paycheck is in limbo somewhere, and I have no access to my money! This is the second day they're going into this while providing very little information, except to blame it on a website upgrade. Meanwhile, I don't have any funds! (I'd gotten into a (now bad habit, I see) of paying for everything electronically, so I've used up the small amount of cash I had on me.

News story about it here, in which they claim access was down for "up to an hour" and that it's "temporary" -- but this has been going on now for over a day, and some customers (in comments at another article) have said they've had no access to their funds since last Saturday!

1. Oh, boy.
I was in my local branch on Saturday, to make a deposit and to use the Penny Arcade. It was total chaos in there - phones ringing off the hook, tellers repeatedly telling customers that they couldn't do this, and couldn't do that, because of the transition from Commerce Bank to TD Bank. I overheard a manager saying that every customer was notified - when they received their bank statements the last 3 months - that this transition would occur on September 26th. And then she expressed her annoyance at the fact that most customers don't read the extra papers that come with their statements.

So, okay - it's now October 1, and it's STILL not done? Thanks for telling me. I didn't know.

2. Wow, I hadn't been to a branch for a while & so, missed the in-person chaos.

I have to wonder why this transition is so disruptive. I've been with other banks where a transition occurred and the turnovers were almost invisible. And even though TD insists it warned its customers, the warning was that *some* online services might not be available -- not that I would have no access to funds!

Thanks for listening, BeachBaby! :) :hi:
