8. It's wonderful to Feel The Love from you !
I've been planning to check in on DU for days ~ now I see the real reason I waited ...
you hadn't summoned me yet  :yourock: It seems like we have a rather strong mental connection.

I'm hugging everyone and getting ready to leave home for the next 6 months or so.

My business is picking-up. I'm still waiting for payment on several jobs that I've done over the last two months. Thanks to a sizable cash donation from one very special DUer I haven't been forced out of business due to slow payment from those I burn my gas for. I've been sleeping in my Jeep while I'm on overnight jobs (because although I usually get paid $60 to cover my hotel bills I need to lay out the money first and wait for reimbursement).

The job that will take me away from Miss Frodo will be working with one trucker whose company will pay me within 3 to 24 hours of completion of my part of the job. I won't need to worry about trying to pay my bills on time after I start this job. :D

9. When do you start this job?

DUers are generous people aren't they.
Are you taking your camera? You should post from the road and let us know how you are doing.

11. As soon as the driver takes delivery of his new trailer.
It could be as soon as the the end of next week but certainly before the end of the month!

I always have the camera with me (but I let my photobucket account laps until 5 minutes ago) to capture photos of the interesting loads I've help to move.

The last big job should pay me between 10/14 & 10/21. I was sitting at the foot of a man-made asbestos mountain up in Black Horse Ontario for 72 hours. We were supposed to run at midnight on 9/7 but we were delayed by our Canadian police escort. I don't know if I would have taken the job had I known that I would be stuck breathing that air. It was down to 37 degrees overnight. I'm very thankful that I had a 12 volt heating blanket with me.

BTW ~ The asbestos mountains were beautiful until I found out what they were made of. I'll try to post 'em sometime this weekend.

I've got to learn a bit of French if I'm going to keep going up there. Ordering breakfast was rather amusing to_say_the_very_least!

13. It feels good to be sitting still at home for a few minutes (days).
I'll only be running permitted loads so we'll be shut down if the roads aren't safe. My trucker has been a Heavy Hauler for 19 years. Obviously ~ I'll be trusting him with my life as I'm either in-front or behind him. I'm taking my hi-pole as I'll be learning a new part of my job with I'm out there with Jeff.

One of the drivers I work with (Snowman) was an Ice Road Trucker for 5 years. He's been a H. H. for 25 years.

The driver I was playing chicken_on_the_two_lanes for (load was 20 foot wide) has been doing H. H. for 30 years. My job along with the police escorts was to get oncoming traffic to pull onto the shoulder and stop until the load was past. I kidded the Canadian Trooper saying those folks acted like you were leading a parade to a party instead of saving their lives. He laughed because he couldn't flag 'em over but I was successful by putting my left front tire on the fog line. They had to stop. I never knew how powerful my left index finger is.
