1. I haven't actively played in over 20 years
I prefer Magic The Gathering now.

2. Why'd you make the jump from RPG to TCG, if I can ask?
I went the other way, actually. I played M:TG and the Decipher SW:CCG as a young'un, and moved on to D&D in highschool/college. TCG/CCG's stopped appealing to me, for the most part.

How about you?

12. It's been about 10 years for me.
I never got into Magic: The Gathering. I didn't like the idea of playing away cards. I was never good at gambling, so I likely would have lost most of my hard-earned cards ;)

How about a nice game of Nuclear War, Nuclear Escalation, or Nuclear Proliferation instead? :D

4. We played an old school game this summer.
It was fun. I think I prefer the newer-ish versions still, but I liked AD&D.

I like 3.5
I can't say I really like the current version. It is far too dedicated to combat, and leaves out any roleplaying. Crazy me, I thought the whole point was that these were role playing games.

I like to play multiclass characters. Most people should have some levels of Rogue for the skills, and in worlds where Gods are real and have so much direct impact on the world, it should be common for people to be devout enough to have some levels of cleric.

9. The 4e rules were sort of weird, but the DMG was full of win.
I'm not a huge multi-class fan, although I'll do it playing with a small party. I'm one of those horrible people who likes to play dwarf fighters and halfling rogues.

Although playing a halfling favored soul of the goddess of trickery with an INT of 6 was pretty fun.

11. what do you think of Pathfinder?
the 3.75 game that just came out?

cleans up a bit of the 3.5 mess, but I haven't looked at it too closely yet (too busy with my 3.5 campaign - high level encounters are a real bear to prep for!)

18. I took a peek at it.
I don't own it, so I haven't been able to get into it real well. I'm mostly of the mind that if you're committed to 3.5e, there's not a whole lot you can't fix with house rules and Rule #1. That said, I can see Pathfinder's utility for a club game where you're bringing in all kinds of people who you might not play with on a regular basis.

10. I'm about to sit down and DM a TPK
just kidding...

but, I'm running a now 2+ year old D&D campaign (edition 3.5) that is nearing its climax. The PCs are going up against some drow ass kickers in about 5 minutes, including one named after DUer Chovexani.

24. The party did a pretty good job overall
One PC died, but they managed to use Revivify to prevent his death, and a couple of PCs spent a good portion of the fight being stunned. However, they finally defeated their long-time nemesis, Chovexani the drow duskblade (who died twice in the battle - she was also Revivified, then healed up, and managed to cause a bunch more damage before finally dropping.

The party cleric cast a Mass Heal (level 9 spell) that really helped, while the drow priestess got killed just before she could cast her own Mass Heal.

20. Yeah, my kids loved it.
By pure coincidence I happened to walk into a gaming store last year on the day Gary Gygax died (I was interested in looking for board games).

I was pleased to see a crowd of kids in the back rolling and shouting things like "you encounter giant spiders" and "I cast fireball!"

into a Pathfinder one.

If I had more time I'd be doing another 3.5 game on Friday nights.

38. Seems good so far.
Was easy to convert our characters over from 3.5 to Pathfinder. So far the campaign's running pretty well. Pathfinder was an attempt to fix a lot of the flaws in 3.5, and from what I've seen so far it seems to be working. But we've only had a couple sessions with it, so I'm gonna reserve judgement until I've seen more of it.

...but we are using fantasy-fied Alternity rules. We migrated from Chat to kLoOgE several months back, and it's working well.

I would really like to fire up some AD&D2.5 someday. I never played much third edition, and haven't touched 4th.
