Is "Under Pressure" Mostly Bowie, Mostyl Queen, Or Pretty Equal? |
|
It's a VRY important question, because it impacts what Queen's 2nd best song is: Under Pressure or I Want To Break Free.

3. I think Under Pressure is a better tune than that one. |
|
Stone Cold Crazy is a good one, too. It sounds a lot like a precursor to thrash metal to me.
But then again, I've probably watched Wayne's World one too many times. :)

4. Yep - hate it when awesome songs like that get played out... Was soooo happy |
|
to be able to listen to Welcome To The Jungle again - needed about 10 years of not hearing it to undo its played-out status.

5. Agree re: Stone Cold Crazy - Metallica totally ripped off several Queen songs. |
|
"Hit The Lights" included riffs from the Queen songs "Stone Cold Crazy" and "Great King Rat".
Even "Master Of Puppets", one of Metallica's most famous songs, blatantly stole riffs from the Queen song "More Of That Jazz".
So it wasn't surprising when Metallica ended up covering "Stone Cold Crazy".

7. Is "ripped off" really the best characerization? |
|
In any case, I do think G&R would have been a better cover for that song (a great song).

10. When you take several main riffs note-for-note without credit, I call that "ripped off" |
|
And I'm guessing that's why Metallica decided to cover the song later - they had already been playing it for years.

6. It's definitely mostly Queen |
|
All of the members of Queen contributed to the production and Bowie acted as just an extra band member (although no doubt he had a huge influence). It's hands down my favorite Queen (or Bowie) song.

Stone Cold Crazy, pure Bryan May. Under Pressure sucks.
