7. Once again I'll bore you all with tales of my youth...
I saw Mad Dogs,etc. at the Academy of Music (of all places!) in Philly. It was wonderful. WHAT A BAND!!.God knows the audience was stoned...the lovely aroma floated up from the orchestra seats to the gods.
But if Leon Russell was stoned, it only made him play better. I don't think that the dreamy eyed look in that video is any indication....he's in the ZONE, a place very famiiar to musicians, athletes and performers of all types. Leon doesn't have to look at the keyboard, his fingers know what to do.

4. ya never know--that band was so tight it's hard to imagine being seriously fucked up
and still pulling that off. But yeah, 1970; good possibility that all or most of em were REAL high. But high or not, what a FUCKING INCREDIBLE band.
