Is $499 for a 32' Magnavox HDTV with DVD a good price? |

Sales will be way better if you wait until next month. Also, don't buy one with an integrated DVD player. I know, it's neat and saves on cords, but you'll be moving over to blu-ray soon if you haven't already, and if you haven't a separate upscaling player should give you a better picture. In any case combo units are a bad idea because your TV will almost certainly outlast the DVD component, even if you have no expectation of upgrading. Unless you have a very tight space then separate units are almost invariably a better idea, and usually better priced as well.
Brand-wise, I'd hold out for a good deal on a Samsung myself. Fantastic picture, and their service is excellent if you ever have a problem. My Dad's went out and the contracted service people were slow getting it fixed due to a backordered part, so Samsung completely replaced his TV rather than making him wait for the repair. :)
