I used to own the vinyl versions of "It Crawled Into My Hand, Honest" and "Golden Filth," and "Belle of Avenue A."

It was a logical extension of the Zappa-Beefheart universe on Bizarre/Straight/Reprise Records that I was very, very heavily into. That included...to a much lesser degree...Wild Man Fischer and Alice Cooper's second album "Easy Action" (I thought the first one, Pretties For You, was unlistenable crap)...

I used to laugh my ass off at Ed Sanders' redneck trucker caricature, "Johnny Pissoff..."

in the presence of the universal lord of salvation, do solemnly affirm that I've been chosen to...beat up queers" . I still have my vinyl copy of Golden Filth; had forgotten they'd ended up on Warner Bros. Their first two were on ESP-Disk ( which I also still have on vinyl), and even though the 2 I posted were from the first album, I think their true masterpiece was the second album...I Want To Know is the only song from it on Golden Filth. I had the incredible honor of shaking Ed Sanders' hand and talking ( very briefly) with him about 15 years ago. I can't wrap my head around the fact that he just turned SEVENTY. Below are the only 2 from that second album I could find on you tube ( plus I Want to Know, which you already have heard on Golden Filth; here's the studio original). Oh yeah, the liner notes on the second album were by Allen Ginsberg.........

3. No way to pick one band.
DU is way too diverse for that. What you need is a three day festival to even scratch the surface.

First, bring the funk dude. Parliament please. Let's not forget Earth Wind & Fire along with Ohio Players. How 'bout we Motown it up a bit as well, you know, the Temps, the Supremes. Where's Marvin? Where's Smokey.

Now, let's not keep the list exclusive to acts that qualify for medicare. How about Ben Folds? Green Day? Dropkick Murphy's? While we're at it, let's bring in Social Distortion and bring 3 of the 4 Ramones back from the grave. And by the way, how do you have Moterhead without Pantera?

Now, run out some Jay Z, some fresh Beyounce, and that freaky Lady Gaga and we might have a show. Jamie Fox too, just to round it out.

How have we forgotten Willie? Is it the tax thing? Or the pot thing? You just can't forget Willie, or Kris, or Waylon or George. Can I dream? Give me Johnny Cash, please may I have me some Johnny? I also believe there is a wonderful performer with the voice of an angle named Emmylou Harris, that must be remembered.

We need someone to check in with some good jazz and latin, I can't speak with any real knowledge on that other than I like Elvis Crespo and Mana.

One more thing, Me First & the Gimmie Gimmies have to be on a side stage.

Then we'll just add everyone on your poll.

Gazing through the window at the world outside
Wondering if mother earth will survive
Hoping that mankind will stop abusing her, sometime

After all theres just the two of us
And here we are still fighting for our lives
Watching all of history repeat itself, time after time

Im just a dreamer, I dream my life away
Im just a dreamer, who dreams of better days

I watch the sun go down like everyone of us
Im hoping that the dawn will bring a sign
A better place for those who will come after us this time

Im just a dreamer, I dream my life away, oh yeah
Im just a dreamer, who dreams of better days

Your higher power may be God or jesus christ
It doesnt really matter much to me
Without each others help there aint no hope for us
Im living in a dream, a fantasy
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah

If only we could just find serenity
It would be nice if we could live as one
When will all this anger, hate and bigotry be gone?

Im just a dreamer, I dream my life away, today
Im just a dreamer, who dreams of better days, ok
Im just a dreamer, whos searching for the way, today
Im just a dreamer, dreaming my life away
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
