5. Oh no that sucks! About the computers...
I came across this advice online if you computer is stolen: "You can give a call to Microsoft, and provide the windows activation number to them, see if them can do anything for you using the windows key there. At least they might be able to blocked the computer using that product key."

Microsoft Support Customer Care 1-800-936-3500

In the future, you can install one of these tracking programs on your laptops to make sure they can't get away with it again: http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=laptop+security+tracking&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

But as you said - at leas nobody was hurt.

6. I'm so sorry...
I met a woman in PetsMart the other day handing out "lost dog" fliers. Seems someone broke into her home and let the dog out. :-(

I'm glad you're all ok; and hope they find the pricks that took your stuff.

7. That's terrible.
I am so sorry. Our neighbor (and good friends) had the same thing happen to them this summer.

They took all of her jewelry, laptop, some money. Terrible.

Hope you have insurance.

Glad to hear you and pets are ok.

9. I am very glad that you are all okay.
:wow:

:grouphug:

I hope there was nothing irreplaceable on those laptops. I also hope there was nothing personal and useful to them that can be used against you. :(

Assuming the worst though, that they now have enough personal information to impersonate you and set up fake credit card accounts, please contact the credit reporting agencies and lock down accounts so that no new accounts can be opened without a phone call to you directly to confirm your permission.

Notify your bank(s).

Chance passwords on EVERYTHING.

I hope your finances are as safe as you are.

11. New tv?
Was the box it came in sitting outside waiting for the garbage/recycle crew?
A cop told our neighborhood watch that the boxes televisions come in are a tip-off for thieves that you have something worth stealing.

but it's such a violation. I've had that happen to me when I was home, and it just feels awful.

On edit: I found this in my photobucket.

16. Isn't that the worst feeling knowing someone was in your house?
That happened to me and I felt so angry and violated. So glad you and your kitties are well though! The "stuff" can be replaced.

21. I've had that happen to me twice.
A few years ago. It is such a violation, to say the least. I'm glad you're all okay. Just remember, whoever did it will wait awhile to give you time to replace things, and try to do it again. Be careful.
