I love my cat. More than i love most things. Yes, i know a cat is just a pet and not your child etc but my cat is my child and as long as I dont have a queerspawn she takes that place.
However she is getting old.
Is it crazy for me to want to bond with another cat, so in the next few years, when she passes, I will not go crazy with sorrow?
Or will i go crazy anyway, regardless of whether i have another cat?

1. No, you are not crazy. |
|
Plus, I think your cat would love a kitty companion. Makes them feel young.

we ended up taking in an older cat when our two even older cats were failing. all three ended up being good friends for that short period of time. which is always a good thing.
btw I love the expression queerspawn. never heard taht one befoer.

9. Just pick wisely with the 2nd cat - so your current one doesn't get jealous |
|
perhaps a cat out of the kitten stage.
I know I was allowed to bring Abbott along with me to the adoption center to see who he might get along with.

11. Sounds reasonable to me. |

You'll be sad anyway when that happens, but having another kitty to commiserate with may make it easier.
To live is to lose those we love (including animals) and to be grief-stricken as a result. I can't see any reason why we should not take steps be help us deal with that.

which is probably one too many for my house, but the last one we took in was going to get put down if we didn't take her. Anyway, if your current cat can handle another one I would say go for it. Most of them seem to accept other cats and they build their own social hierarchy, but you never know.

14. No, nothing crazy about that. |
|
Crazy is replacing your children with cats when they move out, but ending up with more cats than you did children, like my mother did.

15. You'll probably lose it anyway, but a new kitty would help. |
