I may have just landed a really good client! Wish me luck! |
|
I meet with them on Tuesday, so I'll let you know how it goes. It's a great opportunity for ongoing, steady projects that will dovetail nicely with the clients I already have. Plus, I was contacted by them on the recommendation of someone who used to work for a current client of mine, which bodes well I think.
I know I can do this work really well, and I sure could use another client or two, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I signed an important new client back in late July, and other than the quality of my work (which impressed them), they told me that the second key factor was that I was local, and I also had three high-profile clients for references that this gentleman has known...personally...for DECADES.
The referrals and testimonials really do go a long way. The prospective client thinks "If Mr./Ms. X is happy with them, that's reason enough for me to give them the benefit of the doubt."
A few days ago, I traded emails with this client about some updates I'll be doing for them this weekend. He replied "Thanks so much. The website has proved to be extremely successful."
So it really is one big chain, and the more links you can add to it via satisfied current clients, the stronger and more unbreakable that chain will be.
I'll be rooting for you!

4. Thanks Amerigo! I was very touched that the woman who recommended me |
|
even remembered my name. I only had a few interactions with her before she quit, and remembered her being very nice, but she gets major points from me now!
It's so true what you say about referrals. So far all my clients have come that way, so I do my best to be nice to EVERYONE I interact with on a job. You never know who is going to open a door for you. Of course, as a general rule I try to be nice to everyone no matter what. But when it comes to my freelance work, I make extra sure to curb my natural snarkiness. :)
Thanks for rooting. I'll let you know! And congrats on the client you got in July. Yay for work! :hi:

I'm trying not to get too excited yet, but it would be such a great opportunity and I know I can do it. The client is about as high-profile as it gets too, so it would be so great for my portfolio.
