Nintendo DS game suggestions?

I want to include a new game in my son's Halloween basket, and I haven't been keeping up with what's hot. He's 7 and his favorite game so far is the Lego Star Wars- Complete Saga. But he also likes Mario Kart. He's lukewarm about the Pokemon stuff. So what is out there that might be a winner?

1. If your son is into puzzles and such.

He might like the Professor Layton games. Some of the puzzles will most likely be too difficult for him, but helping him out could be lots of fun :) The new Mario and Luigi game is awesome and Elite Beat Agents and Yoshi's Island are some of my favorites from the past few years.

2. If he likes the Lego S/W, he may like the other Lego DS games

The Lego Indiana Jones and Batman DS games are big hits with my 6-year old. He's a big fan of the S/W Lego game as well!

There's another game called "Mystery Case Files: Million Heir" in which the player is a detective solving a mystery. It's mostly hidden object puzzles, with some interactive sleuthing activities (like dusting for fingerprints). Both my 6 yo and my 9.5 yo loved the game.
