He told me to feed my dogs some pot brownies, and I did, and they broke open the freezer and ate all the ice cream. x(

8. so they are fairly young then |
|
evenly matched? generally speaking, dogs work this out w/o killing each other; but it can be annoying for those used to a peaceful home. My boys "spar" constantly, then ten minutes later, they're happliy lying together somewhere

10. I have the same problem |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 09:57 PM by JonLP24
It actually isn't fighting, it's one bigger dog trying to kill(seems like) a smaller dog so they're not evenly matched. I tried several methods so I just keep them separated. When I'm asleep the smaller one sleeps inside a very large cage. About 5 feet wide, 8 feet long.

13. No. 1--- are they neutered? |
|
If not, they should be!
If the fur is flying, you can spray them with water or shake a penny can at them. My dogs (both neutered) sometimes get into a tussle over a toy, for example. I send them to their crates for "time out." Then they are sooooo submissive and repentent!
The female is usually the aggressor. The male is a sweetie pie.

21. I have the same issue... |
|
...I take the younger one (the aggressor) by the scruff of the neck, and put her in a room by herself, and while making eye contact tell her in no uncertain terms that her behavior is unacceptable, and shut the door; leaving her alone for about 5- 10 minutes. She gets the message. Then I watch for triggers for that behavior, like a new toy they both may covet, and avoid those situations.
give attention freely, but fairly, and hopefully your problem will cease.
keep me posted!

24. If the spray bottle doesn't work, and the fight is really serious, try |
|
an air horn.
That really gets their attention.
