Self-appointed authority: "Musicians don't know shit about what's good."
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 08:58 PM by NightTrain
This incredible claim just appeared in the Usenet group, rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1950s. Here's the context:

First posting (by Fred):
(excerpted) The second release is going to be Howard Tate's "Legendary Verve Sessions" CD, which has been out of print for nearly a decade.

Second posting (by Bruce):
I know Tate is a friend of yours, but I've never seen him as anything more than a second rate soul performer who made a couple of pretty good records.

Third posting (by yours truly):
SAY WHAT?! Bruce, I have musician friends who would kick your ass if they heard you dissin' Tate like that.

Fourth posting (by Bruce again):
Send 'em over. Musicians don't know shit about what's good anyway.

Fifth posting (by yours truly again):
Let me get this straight: in your opinion, people who write, record, produce and perform music "don't know shit about what's good" in it? Do you also believe that mystery writers don't know how to judge crime fiction?
