Am I a horrible person if I eat chicken soup? |
|
Serious question.
I'm feeling rather sick today (nothing big, just some gastrointestinal weirdness), so I'm kind of scared to eat lunch. Instead of real food, I'm planning to eat rice and soup. My usual plan would be to have rice and miso soup....but the nearest sushi place is not walking distance. I'm a pescetarian (a "vegetarian who eats fish", I maybe have fish once a week). I'm planning to go to the campus convenience store to buy soup....so, the question at hand is, would it be terrible if I got instant chicken soup? The Lipton cup-of-soup kind? I do have instant tomato soup, but I feel like the acidity would irritate my stomach at this point.

1. You've gotta stop worrying about what other people think of you! |
|
You're very bright and kind -- and cute, to boot! Get instant vegetable soup or some vegetable bouillon and--if ya can't--I doubt instant chicken soup has much actual chicken in it, anyway.

3. I realize it goes against your belief... |
|
But if you're going to do the 'chicken soup' thing, go the whole hawg (so to speak) and get REAL chicken soup if you can. Progresso (if it's available) is a good substitute if you don't have a friend who lives off-campus whom you can con into making some for ya...;)
IMHO, the 'chicken' in Lipton's soup consists of the word 'chicken' being chanted over it during manufacture... but then, I'm a soup snob (read: insist on making it from scratch )

4. The only person who can answer this question is you |
|
at least that's the only answer that matters. You are following your set of beliefs so it's up to you to decide such details.

5. Do what you need to do to make yourself feel better |
|
Crackers and ginger ale always work for me. Rice is not a bad idea, either. That cup-of-soup is loaded with salt, and that might make things worse. Can you get a hold of some plain ol' broth? The stuff in the cartons is usually pretty good, and not so much salt. You can doctor it up with whatever your stomach can handle.
Hope you're feeling better soon. I am on my second cold in two months, so I sympathize with you.

9. If you don't normally eat it, it would probably do you more harm than good. |
|
Tummy upset would follow, I suspect.

10. No, but it might give you the shits. |

Your body isn't used to the bird fat - beware. Besides, why would you want to anyway? The only birds that go into those cans are layers that spent their entire lives squashed wing-to-wing with other birds in a tiny cage. Whey they stop producing eggs, they end up in a can. Great life, eh?
