Problems with the film 2012 |
|
I've not seen it, but I've seen the movie poster and previews. For a giant tidal wave as tall as the Himalayas to hit Tibet, water would have to be displaced in large quantities from some other area of the planet. It would take all the water in the Indian Ocean to create a 25,000 ft wave, leaving it completely dry. Also the wave would likely break on the lower foothills. The scenario is simply not plausible.
Unrelated, in the film, 'The Big Lebowski', why weren't Jeffery and Walter arrested for vandalizing the red corvette outside Larry Sellers house?

1. Well theoretically it would be possible if an enormous object |
|
the size of a small moon hit the ocean and displaced the water.
Not that we'd be able to miss something that big coming, and not that I think the 2012 nonsense is anything but malarkey, but still. Theoretically.

They show a cult that's committed suicide at the base of one of the Mayan pyramids. Now that sounds like a much better film than the 'end of the world' stuff in 2012. They should have made a movie about that.

3. That's why Noah's Flood was most likely the creation of the Black Sea |
|
If you were a Bronze Age villager sitting in the middle of that valley as the water came rushing in, your last thought might well be that the world was coming to an end. But your point is well taken.

6. Yeah, but even in a surge like that |
|
The wave would probably only be a couple of hundred feet tops, if that.
