Pac Ten - The best conference in college football?
Six teams in the top 25

Oregon
USC
Cal
Stanford
Oregon State
Arizona

Unfortunately, they all beat up on each other in conference play.

Stanford (with a potential Heisman) will go to the Emerald Bowl, Oregon, the Rose Bowl, USC or Arizona, (one) will go to the Sun Bowl Oregon State & Cal will go to other top Bowl games.

Guaranteed ALL will win their bowl games in whichever Bowl they play in....Just watch!

The Pac Ten, besides USC & perhaps Oregon, always underrated.

1. Actually only 5 ranked teams
Unless you use the lesser known polls such as the "Legends" poll. But still, the "mighty" SEC has only 3 ranked teams, same as the Big East, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, and Mountain West (the ACC has 4 in BCS ranking, Mtn West has 2).

5. According to the Sagarin computer
which uses an ELO ranking that sucks early on but gets better and better as the season progresses:

1 SOUTHEASTERN
2 PAC-10
3 ATLANTIC COAST
4 BIG EAST
5 BIG 12
6 BIG TEN

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbc09.htm

If you expand it to all sports, it truly is the "conference of champions."

NCAA TEAM TITLES WON BY CONFERENCE

Men
1. PACIFIC-10 261
2. Big Ten 200
3. Big 12 133
4. Southeastern 97
5. Ivy 76
6. Big East 59
7. Atlantic Coast 54
8. Conference USA 46
9. Western Athletic 36
10. Sun Belt 31

Women
1. PACIFIC-10 117
2. Southeastern 74
3. Atlantic Coast 57
4. Big 12 38
5. Big East 22
6. Big Ten 20
7. Ivy 14
Mountain West 14
8. Ivy 12

9. Hell yeah! Go Dawgs!!
Hey, are you going to be watching the World's Smallest Outdoor Cocktail Party tomorrow? I'm pulling for Clemson in that one. Maybe Tech will still be dispirited by the loss, as in 2006, and do the same thing.

8. Heh. The Pac 10 conf that beats up on Mountain West and Big Sky Teams.
Oops. It's the other way around!

Maybe they should partner with the MAC and the Fighting Amish from Notre Dame!

:D

10. Hate to burst a bubble ...

But don't put much stock in that.

The Big 12 has had 6 teams in the top 25 during years all but one of them lost their bowl games ... badly.

11. Yeah, but don't expect any recognition east of the Rockies
Columnist for the Oregonian opined today that the winner of the Oregon/Oregon State game would take the measure of the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl, and since it was Oregon, he said it was pretty much a lead pipe cinch. We'll see.

The Pac 10 has a real good bowl record in the last 10 years, and that could be attributable to the fact that after the conference champion goes to the Rose Bowl, the also-rans go to inferior bowls because of chronic undervaluing by the voters and the writers, where they blow out inferior competition. It could also be because the Pac 10 is indeed a superior football conference.
