My daughter saw this today: I'm a Christian, I've got a gun, and I'm a Democrat

2. What's "so-called" about any of these? |
|
I know plenty of staunch Democrats who are faithful Christians and gun owners. Heck, Vice President Biden fits this description.

4. I lived in the South for seven years |

Four years in Arkansas, three years in Louisiana. Like I said, plenty of loyal Democrats fit that description.

7. There is a small core group of |
|
truly progressive Dems in this state. But they are few. The Dems in this state who would proudly sport that bumper sticker are fine and loyal Dems as long as the issues are those that they can rally behind, mostly labor issues. But you get them into any discussion about issues of a social nature, they are as Guns, God, and Gays as any of the right wingers. They also have no problem crossing party lines in a general election (they can't in a primary) and often do. Not one county in OK carried Obama, not one.
A bunch of us tried to work within the structure of our county party here and found they were so entrenched in their conservative views and it was such a good old boy organization, there was little hope of moving them left even a smidge. I tried to get our local state rep to even talk about his support for teaching Creationism/Intelligent Design in the schools and for Boren's support for the bankruptcy bill and his remark was to the effect that east coast/west coast issues aren't of any concern out here in our state. WTF???
Like I said, a decent, truly loyal Dem is hard to find here. That bumper sticker would make them right proud.

9. Well, I've got guns, and I'm a Democrat. |

I'm probably more "Christian" in values than most of the so-called "Christians" I know, but I don't use the label since I consider all religions to be valid even if they contradict each other. Anyone who would deny their "all powerful god" the ability to reconcile that paradox is simply denying the existence of their own god.
