Need help re: DVD player
I just bought a DVD player. It says that it plays DVD+RW DVD's, yet when I put in a DVD of that type I get an error message saying "this DVD may not have playback feature". I have looked at the case of the DVD over and over again and it says that it is a +RW in keeping with +RW specifications. My DVD player also says that it plays +RW discs. What could I be doing wrong here?

1. Your disc may be DVD-R or DVD-RW
You have DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW.

Just like VHS and Beta, some players can only play + or - discs.

2. It's +RW
It says so, and the player says it will play it. I have also made sure to discriminate between +R and +RW.

3. Do you have another DVD player, or a DVD-ROM drive in your computer?
Will it play in those?

6. What make and model player is it?
Look it up here.

Seems like oftentimes it's an incompatibility problem between the brand of media as well as the format (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, etc.)

8. You may have a coaster on your hands....
if the person who made the DVD didn't copy it correctly then it will not play in any player.

Making DVDs is not as simple as burning CDs. More stuff can go wrong in the encoding and burning processes.
