Remember when I said that my wife's favorite gift that she ever got from me is a toaster oven? |
|
I'm beginning to believe that the second most favorite is a waffle maker.

3. I despise the toaster oven my husband got me! |
|
Not because it was a toaster oven, mind you, but because the damn thing doesn't work. It's a combo convection oven and toaster. However, there's no real toast setting so you turn a knob and stand there and watch it like a hawk or everything burns. It takes forever to toast anything. The kids hate it. I hate it. It does do well as a small oven so I can give it some credit for that. But when you simply want a piece of toast or a bagel, it totally stinks. Even my husband set off the smoke alarm last week just by reheating a biscuit in it.
We've been trying to think of a way to kill it but my husband can fix anything so we haven't come up with its demise yet.

5. Accidentally putting a few firecrackers in it might help. |
|
If that doesn't work, accidentally getting a propane torch too close to it should do the trick.
We have a toaster oven that I love - Black & Decker 6 slice - holds a 12" pizza (the back is rounded out for that purpose). We also have a 4 slice wide-slot toaster that we use for actually toasting things. The toaster oven is good when you keep the word "oven" in mind. Last night I made chick-nugget subs in it (Morning Star Farms chick nuggets). I cooked the nuggets in the microwave, sliced them in half, and heated spaghetti sauce on the stove. Then I spread sauce on mini-sub rolls, arranged the nugget slices, put more sauce on them and topped it with mozzarella cheese. They went in the pre-heated toaster oven (about 400) until the cheese started to melt and then I switched it to 425 broil for the last two minutes. They were in there less than 10 minutes total. The 4 slice toaster would have REALLY bitched if I had tried to cram them in there!

In support of the toaster oven!
*Biker's Old Lady*
I love mine, more than my microwave. I love to cook, and spending hours in the kitchen is my idea of a good time. That toaster oven is the most handy appliance we own!
Well, maybe not as handy as our Foreman Grill!!
