3. My mom's cat lived to 20, and I have a sixteen year old who shows few signs of wear.
Aim high, your buddy could be around a long time. :)

4. I got one of those - male also
He is my helper cat. And he is highly vocal. Seems like he always has a story to tell.
The funny thing is that our Nate is a real people person. We get visitors Nate seats them and offers himself as a companion, all the while telling tales. He really shines up to females.
We've had Nate @7years. He is a pound kitty. I could never understand why anyone would dump such a loving cat.
BTW, Nate recently got a lop eared look from his left ear being essentially broken. Vet says there is nothing we can do. Looks like an alleycat that lost now.

5. We have a girl that looks quite similar - found her at a road-side picnic area.
She was maybe 6 weeks old and tiny. I had on a felt cowboy hat and she walked around the brim without bending it. She's 11 1/2 now and still a peanut - all of 5 1/2 lbs. She's quite healthy, just tiny. Animals know when you are extending love that has otherwise been unavailable.

6. This guy is just shy of 17lbs
Vet said he'd like for Abbott to lose about a pound but for the most part, Abbott really is just bigboned.

7. He's getting up there. My 12 1/2 year old boy is 18 1/2 lbs.
He's lost a little weight with age. Mostly he just sleeps on the heat register now. He's a total cuddle.

12. Yay!
It was 12/20/2007 I found this one:

I posted http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=7268729">here when I found her. As you can see, I didn't intend to keep her.

But now she's my lap warmer and best friend to the other cat (and a source of annoyance to the dog).

17. That's a great breed too. I know from experience.
Actually not sure if it's a specific breed, per se. But the white and tiger mix has always been a good one to me. Nothing made my parents happier for years and years than to have one on these around. She was a stray at first.

They called her 'sugar' and 'buns'

She was a very cool cat. Aloof, of course.... but plenty of compassion and wonderful eye contact. That's what I'll remember the most. Plus she loved the human touch.

Good for you and your story.

PS - My brother used to say, "She only has to clean the white parts"

18. ahhh he looks like my baby Spanky
Spanky went to Rainbow Bridge last September at age 13. If Abbott is half as sweet as Spanky was you are very lucky.
