1. Wow. Looks like fun. Unless the electro goes out. Then it would
be nice to have a fireplace.
And some firewood. Or a lot of extra furniture.

3. Yep, 2 feet. We were thinking about sending my 3 yo daughter out for a photo
But we were afraid we'd lose her......

I think it's about stopped now, some 25 hours after it started

4. Just beautiful.
Take her out sledding tomorrow. There's a great hill by the Manassas Battlefield.

(I live near Antietam now, in Hagerstown, but visiting with friends in Silver Spring. Don't know WHEN I'll be able to get home!)

There was a big storm on daughter's 2d birthday, Jan. 22, '87, and went walking with her, briefly. ALMOST lost her!

7. I lived in DC (Arlington) elleng, from '85-90.
Used to tramp all over those sacred fields. Must have been to Sharpsburg over 50 times. Beautiful after a snow. But then again, everything is.

10. So I guess my 'long term' memory needs a break!
I've never done such, but may spend some time at Antietam. Drove around there recently, but didn't do any real studying. Will work on it.

11. With the sesquicentennial coming, elleng...
...there'll be big doings. The Cornfield at Sharpsburg. Start there. An incredible aura.

6. Very nice pics.
And congratulations on all that snow! Far surpasses our 14 inches of 1-1/2 weeks ago.

Stay safe and stay warm.

13. I dunno.
Here's what I face in the parking lot..

Thats my car between the one dug out and the one totally covered. Plus the streets around my development are about the last plowed. Once I get out of the neighborhood I should be okay. Its that first mile

Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 09:57 AM by tigereye
I seem to remember after he moved to DC, they had a big one down there, too!

Are all the schools closed? The kids are probably thrilled. You guys don't really have lots of snow removal equipment down there, or do you?

We only got 6 inches... pretty standard for the big hill where I live. We always get more than down at the bottom of the hill.

18. Thanks for these pictures, Burma Jones.
Being a desert dweller, I have no opportunity to see such precipitation.

It sure does bring back memories of my childhood in Montana.
