I need a new hompage
I've used Yahoo for my homepage for years. I like the quick snapshot of what's going on in all the different parts of the News and life.
But I think in an effort to make you customize Yahoo to "your own special page" (who cares) they have loaded it with aps that make it slow and harder to navigate (my mouse often gets caught on things I don't want). So they have lost me. I want a new homepage that would serve the same function. A general News and info page. NOT DU, it is too specific and not what I am looking for.
Any suggestions?

2. Thanks
but still too political. I would use HuffPost if I wanted that.
I am looking for more general Yahoo-like.

3. Personally, I just use
a blank homepage here at home and use my bookmarks to go where I need to go for content. At work, I just use the Astronomy Picture of the Day.

:hi:

4. GoDaddy. $10 per year for the domain with free e-mail and web space.
They put an ad banner on the free web pages, but most places do. I host a bunch of sites so I've got a web space package (also reasonable in cost) and there aren't ads on those. Their tech support is the best I've ever encountered with a hosting company.

8. I have my own webpage
What I am looking for is a general homepage that my browser opens to. A general info page like Yahoo, which has become hinky.

9. OH! I keep mine local on my machines. It is a simple page with my main links (in categories)
I've got a "News" section, a "Reference" section, and links for phone numbers, schools, and other stuff I use.

11. iGoogle is kinda cool
You can fill it with whatever modules you want like headlines, weather, daily toons n stuff.

It sort of reminds me of what the old Yahoo homepage used to be like before it got too script-y.

16. For right now I am trying
the Bing News page. It is surprisingly simple and good. Sometimes, Microsoft gets it right.

17. i use my own website for my home page
Edited on Tue Dec-22-09 04:06 PM by pitohui
makes it easy for me to update every day

of course that only works if you have a website

otherwise i would use a weather site for my home page but what i do instead is i have a small link that shows the weather at the bottom of my front page

i know what you mean abt yahoo, as a friend uses yahoo for his home page and it's just getting ridiculous, too many clicks to read the fucking mail and check the fucking calendar

when i first log on, i don't want a link to a million news items and videos i want to see my own fucking "stuff"

every time i use his laptop i break out swearing, i guess you can tell, ha
