Which stations would you add to your cable/satellite? |
|
Inspired by ARWalden's thread...
I'd like Turner Classic Movies and the Baltimore networks back on my listings. It'd also be cool to get BBC News all the time; and if there was an Arts network, I'd love it.
All beer TV could be interesting... :D
How about you?

|
that is not RW propaganda!! Great documentaries and other stuff on FSTV. Good little ten-minute short they've been airing lately called "Asscroft"

I don't want to go through the expense of getting digital cable at this time. But I'd like BBC America.
Memo to Time Warner Austin: If you give me BBC America on my regular cable, I will let you take back Fox News and MTV. Two for one, whaddya say?

6. Add some and modify others |
|
I'd add Free Speech TV and a Japanese station. I'd also revamp BBCAmerica so that it had more dramas and comedies instead of those idiotic "reality" shows like Changing Rooms and Ground Force. I mean, okay, one hour each per day, but back to back all day? :puke:
I'd also add an International Film Festival Channel to show all the wonderful films from around the world that dazzle audiences at the film festivals but never find a U.S. distributor. Sundance and IFC do that to some extent, but they rerun the same films too often.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that we don't get it as part of our cable package, considering all the crap we do get.

12. Put me down for TCM too! |
|
We used to have it, then our stupid cable system decided we'd be better off with Tech TV TWICE on our system, for some unknowable reason! TCM is the only place that shows silent films on any sort of regular basis.
We might be moving soon, and that cable system carries it, so I will be happy to have it back. :hi:

Which used to be pretty good. It's sucked for several years now...especially since they started showing commercials. :(

16. AMC calls them "intermissions" |
|
Dumbed down is what I call it. Thank heavens for TMC, a class act channel. Who else would show obscure movies or silents. I'd love BBC America or Ovation (arts and culture channel) added to my extended cable. I gotta get digital cable for those. Like I have $100 a month to pay for that. I'll live. I don't watch much tv anyway.

17. Ovation is wonderful, but |
|
they keep re-running the same few dozen programs. They seriously need to buy some new ones.
If you miss a show you want to see, don't worry, it will turn up the following week, or at least the following month.

21. I Was Very Disappointed When AMC Changed To A Commercial Format |
|
It was 'tolerable' when the commercials were IN BETWEEN movies... I could have lived with that.
I got more irritated when they started inserting one commercial in the middle of the movie (the intermission).
I rarely EVER watch them anymore with their current method of (what seems to be) progressively more frequent commercial breaks the further into the movie you go. --- One would almost think that they were trying to copy TNT or TBS.

Remember "Remember WENN"? I loved that show. It made me long to "return" to a time that I wasn't even a part of in the first place.

That was a great show! Do they still air it? I stopped watching when they went commercial. Also, it seems like most of the movies they show now are WWII flicks or westerns...both of which I can only take in small doses.

24. Nope... Just Four Seasons |
|
1996-1998 was it's first original run.
I seem to recall seeing repeats until 99 or 00 (I could be wrong)... but the show is nowhere to be found now.
I loved the costumes and hairstyles. So much attention was paid to detail and authenticity. It was fun to watch.

the BBC we get has mostly those inane "make-over" shows and silly variety and sit-coms..
I would love to have CNN-I instead of the CrackheadNN that we currently have..

TCM, Bravo, Cartoon Network, Nick (I need SpongeBob!), Comedy Central (for The Daily Show), CNN (just because sometimes they are the only station covering certain events). However, I am unwilling to pay for the next level of cable service that would include those channels but also a whole heap o'junk that doesn't interest me.
