How much of a hill will my Emergency Brake work on??? |
|
Hi DU, I just moved in to a new house and my driveway is probably a...35-40 degree angle up to the garage. Will the emergency brake hold my car in place if I park in the driveway or should I worry that one of these nights in the middle of the night, my emergency brake will give out and my car will roll down the driveway into the neighbors driveway and into their house?
Thanks

1. Make sure it's in gear too |
|
With the emergency brake and the car in 1st gear for a stick or park for an automatic you should be fine :hi:

3. yes, use the gearbox (if a standard) |
|
I put it in reverse if facing downhill, and in first when facing uphill. or I did when I had a car and lived in hilly areas. Also, you can turn your wheel so that if the car does roll it goes off to the side instead of straight back. And wheel chocks are maybe not a bad idea too.

7. Good advice with turning the wheel. I'll point it toward my mailbox and in between the |

across the street neighbors's driveways. That is definitely a good back up plan.
