The Tobin S. thread about trucks reminded me of this.
Back in the early 70s we were moving from our very first house outside of Chicago down to Birmingham, AL.
We'd only been married a few years and hadn't accumulated much 'stuff' yet. I thought I could do it in a U-Haul trailer. We had a big ol' Plymouth station wagon and I figured the biggest U-Haul would do it. But I wasn't SURE we could fit all our stuff in. So I did a practice move.
I got the interior measurements of the trailer and laid the perimeters out on our living room floor with 2 X 4s. Then we started stacking all our stuff within the confines. It was like putting a 3-D jigsaw puzzle together. We 'reloaded' several times. Learned to fit this thing into/under that thing and/or around THAT thing until it all fit.
Then I took Polaroids of the finished load and duplicated it when we got the trailer. It worked.
Is that obsessive/compulsive, or what? :eyes:
