I got roped in with no way out. What a fucking drag, man. I despise those things. If I wasn't celebrating 23 years of sobriety this month, I'd get hammered. There's an open bar in a "sea faring town".

Damn it all.

1. Maybe it won't be so bad. Hopefully, there won't be any cheesy games, and
there will be yummy food.

3. Ick!! When I had my baby shower, I was ADAMANT there be no games.
We actually made mine a Mexican Fiesta type with margaritas!! For those who didn't like those, there was wine and mimosas. And I got to partake in the margaritas. My friend found a cocktails for moms to be book that had a bunch of virgin drinks. I wanted to make sure that my shower was fun for all. And it was. And no silly games. Try to have fun if you can!!

4. whatever you do, do NOT stretch the baby

7. Well, you could go dressed like this...
Might liven things up a bit.

On second thought, don't do it. You might make mom drop the kid on the spot.

8. ya know what will make you feel better?
Just remember - it's about the mom and not you. She is going through hormonal hell right now and is physically very uncomfortable. She's also excited and scared about her new baby. But... even tho she is tired and trying so desperately to do everything right at the shower... she will be so happy to know that you care enough to be there.

I used to despise those types of events... I even made sure that my baby shower was very simple - and not traditional. I also limited the guest list to those that were the closest to me. I tried to take the burden off of my cousins that offered to throw the shower by volunteering to do much of it myself... then at the shower.. I realized how much I appreciated the people that were there, the people that helped and felt so much better for the support they showed. I was humbled. Being pregnant wasn't easy.. and as strong and casual as I tried to be.. I was freakin' giddy at how loved and supported I felt.
