My bad kitty, Toki, did the worst thing: he died suddenly today

We adopted Toki last year when my husband found him outside with an abscessed foot. From then on, he was hell on wheels - getting into everything, chasing the big cats, doing stuff we didn't want him to, and always wanting to be petted, held or nap in a lap. We loved him to pieces, and my husband was especially bonded with him.

Today, as I was folding laundry, he came upstairs ... and had a seizure and died. His doctor said he had a congentially enlarged heart. He wasn't even 2 years old yet.

I'm going to miss him a lot.

That's why he was Toki Wartooth and wore a studded collar. With many bells. He didn't go outside - the bells were to warn the other cats, plus he liked them.

15. My Baby is at the vet overnight tonight. She was in serious condition over the weekend.

She is 13, but is in bad shape with stress on her kidney. I don't know if she'll make it. I know how you feel. I don't know if I can make the decision. We're waiting to see if we can get her temperature down. I hope she does not die tonight while no one is there. She's my three-legged kitty. I hope you consider getting a rescue kitty to honor Toki.

I worked so hard to save her life when her mother brought her to us with one hind leg chewed off. She had a good life, but I should have gotten her teeth cleaned at least once. I havn't cried as much in a long time as I did today.

but I also am pretty sure that you did everything RIGHT for her. I'm a kidney patient myself, and really, they don't know exactly what brings it on in humans or cats (feline and human renal diseases are very similar). Maybe it was genetic and keeping her out of general anesthesia was a good thing. You did all you could for her, and she loves you for it (love doesn't ever go away).

He looks just like the tomcat I brought back to the States with me from Sicily, Wotan Wahnwitz. The one who shredded the vet.

Toki's death must have been terrible for you and your husband. I had a young female cat, Layla, a beautiful, shiny, pitch-black cat I got from the humane society, who died of a very quickly developing tumor right in my arms. So sad.
