Why do I always feel so guilty the morning after I go 'out' / spend money? |
|
I hate feeling like this, but I always do. Every time I go out and have a few drinks and/or spend money doing so; I feel horribly guilty the next day. And I worry incessantly about the money I've spent having a good time. I mean, it was our nine year anniversary! We didn't even get to celebrate last year because we were so broke. We had a wonderful time. I just can't figure out why I feel so bad now. Eh.

1. I'll take a guess here... it's because you're still very worried about being broke again. |
|
It takes time to get over that panic. Trust me, I know.

And, sorry to get a little 'woo' on ya,but I do believe that worry just creates more stuff to worry about. So the motivation should be to STOP worrying!! But I just can't seem to. Just trying to breathe through it. Thanks so much for the hug...

I can't tell you not to worry, because you will. Whenever you do worry, though, try to remember that a special occasion is a perfectly reasonable justification for a little celebration and if that means spending a little money, then so be it.
You'll end up finding a way to get through the financial repercussions. I promise.

we always do get through it,but I absolutely dread that moment of pure terror when something is switched off or I get the notice in the mail or the phone call or what have you. I need to try and change my reaction, since I really can't change the things happening. Hmm, I think I have control issues1 LOL. Thanks..

6. Happy belated anniversary! |

:toast:
I would tell you not to worry but that would be very hypocritical of me. Here's hoping we both find ways to stop doing that.

When you've been broke for a long time, you turn into a modern day version of a depression era parent.
The upside is that frugality can be fun (just not this aspect of it).
Happy anniversary - hope the fun outweighed the worry!

9. Just cut back a little wherever you can for the next couple of weeks. |
|
Maybe you can "make-up" what you spent.
That's what I do when I'm feeling that way. I'll just take coffee to work instead of buying it on the way in. Or I'll sell a DVD or two. Or cut back on groceries or the thermostat.
You went out once in two years for your anniversary. Don't lose the enjoyment of that night worrying. Just take a few steps to correct it!:)
