I have his Stardust album. It's full of songs you wouldn't expect to hear from him, and he does a beautiful job of singing them.
Thanks for posting this, I hadn't heard it before.

He's great and all that, but NOBODY can top the Annie Lennox cover of that song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3UMpBqzVW4Edit for grammar.

6. One of my favorite artists EVER... |
|
. ... and he'll probably be another one where I say, "Damn... I wish I had seen him when I had the chance." . Saw him and Ray Charles (another favorite and, yes... I made the above statement about him) together in a Willie Nelson concert that was on video. . They were good friends, apparently... and Ray sat in for a coupla songs. Willie told the story of how they were both chess enthusiasts and how the night before, in a hotel room, they had played a game. . "I whupped his ass," said Willie. . Ray laughed and told the crowd that they were going to play again that night. . "But this time," said Brother Ray, "... ... ... ... ... no lights!!!" .

7. This is one of my all time favorite songs. |

And Willie is one of my all time favorite musicians! I didn't even know he covered this songs until I was starting to rebuild my music collection (from vinyl to cd). Willie is very original, but he is also a great cover guy. Dave Matthew's "Gravedigger" and that Hallelujah song from Shrek...he can put quie the Willie style on anything.
I took (okay, dragged) my two yougest kids to see Willie and Bob Dylan in 2005. My son is a musician and I think he appreciated it (even more now that he is 18), but my daughter (15 now) still makes fun of me for taking her although I think that changed when I pointed out that Bob Dylan was in her current history book!).
Thanks for the link to the Annie Lennox version (down thread). I had never seen that one before. It is such a beautiful, flowing song...
