eat really really strange stuff. and i remember with the china olympics there was quite alot of coverage about what types of food was available from the local food vendor stands--insects on a stick????
We should remeber that domestic pets are a luxury item that we afford ourselves. Some cultures do not.
That being said if i saw someone coming after one of my cats with a knife and fork that person would stopped with force if needed.

2. I think if one is a meat-eater, one has no right to complain about eating cats. |

I'll allow for outrage from vegetarians, but not carnivores.

back in college I found this book at the bookstore called "The Book of Questions". It was a party book that asked thought provoking questions meant to stimulate conversations.
One of the questions that got us all into a heated debate was about bugs. The question was this - for $1000 would you pull the legs off of a cockroach? Of course everyone said 'yes'. WE were a bit squeamish but hell it's an easy $1000. The second part of the question asked if you would to that to a butterfly for the same ammount of money. Oddly enough most of us were like "No but it's a butterfly, how can you do it to something so pretty".
Honestly - they are both bugs. Should one be held to a higher standard simply because it's pretty to the eye of the beholder?
I would not eat cat because I own cats. But how can I rate my cats any higher than the other animals I normally chow down on?

6. I would never consider eating a cat or a dog, but different cultures have different |

attitudes about food and what animals can be eaten. I imagine people from India who revere cows feel that we are a little strange about our obsession with eating beef.

8. Not to play devils advocate here but..... |

how is that different than eating a cow or a pig or a chicken?
I mean an animal is an animal. Is it because he happened to eat something that many of us own and love that makes it somehow more horrible than to eat something living on a farm. I mean I'm assuming the guy didn't steal the neighbor's cat and opted to chow down.
And no I'm not a vegetarian - just pointing out the hypocrisy. As far as I know I have not eaten cat.
