Torn calf muscle. Great. Just Great. |
|
Not a football player, not a baseball player, not a, God Forbid, Hockey player.
Just a Joe Shmoe walking home from work.
Then, suddenly, snap! A calf muscle detaches. Calf bunches up like a Gordian knot.
Time to call wife for a rescue, just three blocks from the house.
Fucking shit.
Please, no medical advice; It will just force the mods to lock the thread...
Besides, I have a Dr's appointment for tomorrow morning anyway, so professional help is on the way.
Rant /off.

5. you have my empathy... |

I had that happen last year. Maybe you'll get lucky, mine turned out to be a severe strain...I couldn't straighten my leg for weeks but at least there was no tear so I didn't need surgery. It presented the same way, a snap feeling then a knot just below my knee. It was visibly distorted as well.

My sympathies. A woman in an exercise class with me many years ago snapped her calf muscle. It made a horribly loud noise that startled all of us in the room. She went down like a felled ox, poor thing. Take care of yourself...I'm a big believer in Motrin. And Advil.

8. that happened to me a couple of weeks ago |
|
I thought to myself "how the hell do I pull a calf muscle?" It happened whilst trying to sprint across a street. It felt like I was shot in the calf, it hurt so bad. It took about two weeks to recover. I didn't do anything, just took lots of ibuprofin for the pain.
You have my sympathies.

9. That's exactly my scenario |
|
Except I didn't get to sprint; it snapped as soon as I pushed off. I had to hobble across as fast as I could so I wouldn't get run over by traffic.

12. Sprained my ankle badly sprinting away and vaulting... |
|
. ... a high chainlink fence after streaking a U.S. movie theatre. I may have been the first streaker in Europe when that trend hit the States in '73 or '74 (Lady Godiva nothwithstanding). . Had to hobble painfully (and painfully slowly) and naked through backed-up traffic to get to the apartment complex where I had hidden my clothes. My (ahem) limp was very, um... you know... pronounced. . You may have heard of me. . . It was raining out. And it was very, VERY cold. . . That was my story... and I'm still sticking with it to this day. .
