Who else besides me didn't go to kindergarten?

I'm almost 60, and grew up in a small town in SC. There was no kindergarten class at the local school in the town, probably not in the entire school district. My sibs, not far from my own age, didn't go either.

1. I'm 63 and grew up in rural SW Missouri and never went to kindergarten.
I went to a one room schoolhouse with 8 grades, which was not uncommon in that area at that time. The only kindergarten that I recall in our was a private one in a town about 10 miles from our home.

4. 53 and didn't go.
Everyone else did though. I always wondered why I didn't. I thought it was a lucky break at the time. I was a busy kid, and didn't have time for that stuff.

5. I'm almost 50 and grew up in Greenville...
at that time, there was only church-affiliated kindergarten. I could already read and write at that age; my parents saw no reason to subject me to the baptists. Thanks Mom and Dad!

7. I didn't. It wasn't required but mostly...
because my sister was held back and we would have been in the same grade and she didn't like that idea for some reason.

8. November birthday.
Too young for kindergarten in Ohio...
moved to Michigan...
Made the cut-off here in Michigan, so I
only had 2 weeks of kindergarten before
school let out.

My youngest daughter was pulled out of
kindergarten and put into 1st grade after
a month because she was reading Harry Potter
to the other kids....

9. My husband
Grew up on a farm in Illinois with several siblings. I still think it's kind of weird he didn't go, considering that it was available.

where I grew up. I'm 54.

No kindergarten where I started school either. We had first through eighth grade in three rooms.

I did get to start school when I was five, however. Turned six the end of September.

ed. I'm 63 and went to school in rural southwest Ohio in the early grades, if it matters.
