Catching up on my pre-Oscar movie watching.... |
|
OMG, is that supposed to be an Appalachian accent Brad Pitt is sporting in "Inglorious Basterds"?
I mean, I like the movie so far otherwise, but WOW is that cringeworthy.
/Appalachian-American who knows what it sounds like, and that ain't even close.
What are you watching tonight to catch up with, and what about it sets you off?

1. I haven't seen any of the nominees |

I have heard that Morgan Freeman's accent as Mandela in "Invictus" is causing South African audiences to cringe like you did with "Basterds". I love Freeman, but am sorry to learn he missed the mark with the accent.

2. Even great actors can blow it if the dialect coaching ain't up to snuff. |

And at least in Pitt's case, it SO wasn't. Same might be true for Freeman as well, I'm not qualified to judge.
