Guitarist John Cipollina with the Dead

For those unfamiliar with this late great guitarist, his name is pronounced with the Italian "C"...like "Chipollina".

2. Very underrated guitaritst

Did some great work on Quicksilver's Happy Trails album

His brother Mario played bass with Huey Lewis.

4. The first two Quicksilver albums, and about a half of the third...

...Dino Valenti was never my cup of tea. When he was released from jail / prison and rejoined the band, I stopped listening. But the first three albums, man oh MAN, they are every bit as essential to the "San Francisco Sound" as any prime material from the Dead or the Airplane.
