Has anyone here ever owned a Mazda Protege?
I just took over my brother in law's car (dumbass enlisted) and I don't really know anything about Proteges. Are they good cars?

1. MrsCoffee and I went to the dealership fully intending to buy one in 1998
and if the salesman hadn't been such a complete sexist prick shitbag (he actually referred to MrsCoffee as "the little lady") we would have.

I still see a ton of them on the road.

6. That would have rocked
She took my arm and led me away, back to the car and out of there.

5. MrsCoffee quickly escorted me off the premises
She's much more even tempered than I am in certain circumstances.

7. I had a 2002 Mazda PR5 (Protege5).
Very good car. One of my title buddies had one for 5 or 6 years, handed it down to his kid when he went off to college. Damn thing still runs like a top.

12. You think that's bad, ask him about his Buick, or his 'Vette, or...
Actually, the only car he's ever bought I've heard him shittalk was the Jag he bought his Mom. They DEFINITELY are not up on their shill payments.

13. I owned a 1996 Mazda Protege for 11 years
It required surprisingly few major repairs in that period: a fuel pump was the biggest. My only complaint was that the windshield always fogged up in the rain and took a while to clear, and it had no air-conditioning. I traded it in finally after one Friday night trip to the vet clinic in the middle of a major snowstorm. The Protege is actually not bad in that type of weather but because of its size you don't feel like you're gonna make it. I'd say they are good, reliable cars.

15. I loved my '93 Protege
Traded it in when my twins were born for a (ugh) minivan.

I'm not one to get all sentimental about cars, but I thought that car was a sturdy and reliable car.
