What's your idea of a "Perfect Day"? I had one of those few-and-far-between days today...
Today, I drove off of my mountain to the house of my Best Friend's sister. There, I met MY sister, my Nephew, and some life-long friends. All in all, there were twelve of us, and we occupied most of a row in the Loge at Dodger Stadium.

We had some beers and Jaeger-bombs before we left for the game, some beers and peanuts and whatever at the game, then left in the 8th inning (cuz the Dodgers were getting their butts kicked) and went back to My BFF's sister's house for a bbq that included shrimp, chicken, and carne asada (with all the trimmin's INCLUDING home-made tortillas). Oh yeah, we had some more beers, shots of Cabo Wabo, and a few bong-hits as well.

I'm gonna be 49 in less than a month and am blessed in that my social circle consists of people I've known since before I was a teenager.

It was a Perfect Day. We laughed so hard at times we nearly cried. I fucking love my friends; they're the best people I've ever met. When we're together, we NEVER talk politics, religion, or any other hot button issue. Over the years, we've camped together, gone to concerts together, partied together, gone to our kids' birthday parties, our parents funerals, graduations, you name it.

Just like Lou Reed said it:

Just a perfect day
Drink sangria in the park
And then later, when it gets dark, we'll go home
Just a perfect day
Feed animals in the zoo
Then later a movie too, and then home

Oh it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging x2

Just a perfect day
Problems all left alone
Weekenders on our own
It's such fun

Just a perfect day
You make me forget myself
I thought I was someone else
Someone good

You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow

3. Had lots of "perfect" days.
.
Fairly recently a "close-to-perfect day" would be a 25-mile ride
up Mt Lemmon on my motorcycle, a world-renowned slab of pie at the
Mt Lemmon Cafe, time for viewing the far horizon, and the ride back
down.
.
For those of you who haven't seen it, this is a BBC promotion for
their musical offerings -- a compilation of artists doing a line or
so from Lou Reed's "Perfect Day".
.
Not a Tom Jones fan at ALL, but his line is one of the most fun.

5. That sounds like a wonderful day
My daughter's 28th birthday was March 30th. We went to the mall early because she had a job interview but after that we walked the mall and went into a shoe store that was having a sale. We were the only ones in there and the salesgirl told us she had a bunch of shoes in the back that were already marked down so she wasn't supposed to put them out (they wanted to sell the higher priced stuff on the "buy one, get $10 off the second pair" sale).

She pulled out box after box - it was like the scene in Pretty Woman where she's surrounded by clothes in the shop - and we laughed and tried on shoes and took pictures. We bought 7 pairs of shoes for $110 then had some lunch.

Then we went to the barn and had such a good day with our horses. It was nice out and we rode and laughed and then let them graze afterwards while we talked.

And when we got home, her stepdad and I surprised her with a cakewreck (we love the Cakewrecks website - http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ ) which she just loved!

It was a wonderful day with one of my favorite people in the world. She moved here from Minnesota in January and it's just been a joy to have her. And it gives me a chance to be a hands-on mom again.

Today, we're going on a major easter egg hunt. :P
