Garden is set and ready. The soil looked fantastic-lots of rain and snow this winter |
|
Garden is set and ready. Weeded and turned over (22' X 13') and Josie's 5'X4' garden is ready. 2 hours...and that is with a shovel :expands chest in a manly way: Some of the dirt was like coffee in consistency. Looks like a banner year. Tomorrow we fertilize-organically of course.
Last year we probably saved $500 on cherry tomatoes. We got 20-30 a day out of Josie's little garden. She LOVES some cherry tomatoes.

1. Our first garden is in progress. |
|
Soil samples go out for testing on Monday, one area is ready dirt-wise but it needs a fieldstone border and lots of organic material added, a second area has had the little shrublings the grew there chopped down, and the 3rd area is still a patch of lawn. However I've got plans for building some compost bins next weekend so we'll be off and running with that. 1st house, it needs a lot of work to get going! Our heirloom tomato seedlings arrive in May too.
