Our ferocious dogs fear NOTHING!!
We've got a border collie mix and a German shepherd dog. They truly fear nothing.

This afternoon, for example, the German shepherd started her booming bark in the living room, and the border collie ran downstairs, joining her with her tenor counterpoint! Over the huge din of urgent, insistent barking, I yelled as usual, "It's NOTHING!!"

I look again. "DOGS!! Nothing's there!!"

"What's going on?" shouts Stinky from his office. "It's Nothing!"

Day after day, night after night, it's the same damn thing - they suddenly leap up and bark their heads off for a few minutes. "Everything okay?" says whoever I'm trying to have a phone conversation with. "Yeah, the dogs are barking at Nothing again."

My piano students jump out of their seats. We can't hear the climactic moments of movies. They kick the foyer rugs around and knock things over in their frenzy, all over Nothing.

Maybe a leaf blew by or a rabbit twitched its nose. These dogs freak at Nothing, but I have to say that as a result, I fear Nothing.

Nothing would dare come near our house!

:)

1. Oddly enough, it's never really nothing.
One of the best things about dogs. They know far more than we do at times.

4. One of my dogs...
can be asleep, and all of a sudden she'll start growling (like a warning) and staring at the same area, very intently. Sometimes she'll get up and walk to the area and just growl at nothing and all the hair stands up along her back.

Then she'll just stop, and go back and lay down and back to sleep.

Don't know what it is, but she smells, sees, or senses something I don't. I joke around and say it's my aunt visiting me. I bought this house from her and she died 6 years ago. She wasn't living here when she died.
