I read this poem tonight at the open mic...have a look! |

Growing Tomatoes
It’s time she thought
to grow
after many years the plot now lies fallow
Tomatoes, peppers too fresh from the vine
she’ll have many days to hold the soft red globes to consider serving them slicing them
she’s not going anywhere this year
She’s standing still while her heart roams
growing tomatoes

Well, thank you!
I'm really touched that you like this so much...
I'll try to keep making them at least this good, if not better...

5. Well tended to details, IMHO |
|
Hearty and colorful is the taste of a single season to stand out from many.
Nice and tidy pickins', indeed.

Thank you...I enjoy making the words vivid, the details interesting, with a minimum of fuss.
Thank you so much!

9. EXCELLENT!!! And my guess is... |
|
. ...VERY introspective. . . . . I had fun imagining what the "globes" might actually be, although I had to move on from a particular possibility when I read "serving them" (like tennis balls? OUCH) and "slicing them" (OW OW OWWIE OUCHOUCH!!!!!) . . . This is one of MY favorites of yours, too. .

10. My dear MiddleFingerMom... |

Ah, thank you, sweetie...
Yes, you are correct: it is very introspective. I was going to travel east this fall to see the fall colors and some friends. However, I plan now to be in school, getting ready for the MFA...
I felt sad at having to make this choice.
This poem was the result.
The globes are the tomatoes! I understand where your mind went, though. (OW OW OW INDEED!!)
I'm really glad it's one of your favorites too...
