You have to go 1 year without the internet, or without sex
Which would you go choose to go without?

1. I am celibate
I have already gone over two and a half years without having sex. I can't even remember who my last partner was.

I can't live without the internet. I would barley make it a day, let alone a year.

2. While not giving a specific answer to the question
I must point out that there's a hell of a lot of porn on the internet. Like, shit you'd never see in the real world, man...

3. I can do a year without sex easy
Edited on Mon May-24-10 05:48 AM by velvet
As long as there's no one around to tempt me.

The internet ... maybe a week?

But it's not that simple. I live in the sticks, I never meet anyone I'd want to get close to round here, any romances I've had in the last five years have been via dating sites. So really no internet would mean no sex.

6. To hell with the Internet!

On Edit:

I mean, a year without sex would be like, um, like,...

well, like a year without sex! I made it MANY years before I even knew there WAS an Internet living on sex alone.

7. Internet.
Of course, it's not unusual for me to go 1-2 months without having sex (and I'm married).

I still need it, though.

8. I want to "really" connect with someone ...
There are a lot of good things about the internet, but it could never take the place of a real-life physical connection with someone that you love. The internet is mostly a "fake" thing. People only present one side of themselves on the net. There is much more that they hide.

On the net, fact and opinion are blurred. People sort themselves out by political inclinations, specific interests, etc. There is an inherent dishonesty on the net. People hide behind computer screens and project whatever image they want to project. True, some are more honest and open, but how to tell?

Even the pornography, which makes up an embarassingly large portion of the internet, is fake. Oh sure, the photos and videos are mostly real enough. But the situations and acts are contrived, devoid of the emotion and the connection that should be there.

Oh, I'd be glad to give up a year of the internet in return for a year of sex. And when the year was over, and I decided to log back on, not much online would be different.

In other words, I don't think I would miss that much.

9. Assuming you're not planning to cut off my arm, I assume I could have both.
;)

I went five years without internet access. I can live without the net, though I do not wish to.

10. Would that be sex with somebody else or ALL sex?
I think we need to clarify that before I answer...

13. Just finished 19 months without the internet
last week; it feels kind of strange sitting in front of a computer now.

This past week I feel like my entire life evolves around the net. Start online after waking up (no breakfast)...get ready/go to work...immediately after returning home get online (no dinner or appetite)...the next thing I know it's after midnight!

21. Well assuming you mean
go without sex "with another person" then I'd go without the sex.

Now if you meant 100% celibate I don't know. I use the internet for most of "tension relieving" activities. It'd be so hard to give up sex, but I also download a lot of podcasts from the net to keep myself entertained and informed since I don't watch the national media.

It's a toss-up.
