Do you ever try to find your house when taking off/landing in an airplane?
Have you ever been able to locate it from the sky?

Mine isn't much of a challenge because it's right near the Austin airport. I've been able to find it every time I had a window seat.

9. Try thinking of it this way...
1) If something happens, there is nothing you can do about it anyway.

2) If you crash, you'll probably never feel a thing.

3) Flying is much safer than driving a car.

...Feel better now?;-)

10. No. I know all that, and I know it is true but.....
for some reason, it doesn't comfort me.

11. This one is kind of a mixed blessing...
but something like 99% of all airplane accidents happen within 15 minutes of takeoff or landing. "Condense your stress" into that half hour, and the rest of the flight can go a little easier!

3. I try to find landmarks that I know.
My apartment is right on the landing path, so every now and then I can spot them.

5. When I lived in Miami,
my house was almost next door to the airport, so never had a problem seeing it from the air.

7. When I lived in San Antonio
I could look out and see my dog in the yard if I were on the correct side of the plane - yes, I lived that close. Could never see the homestead on the way down, but I could find a friend's house.

12. Couldn't in Portland
but now that I live right under one of the busiest approaches to MSP, I'll be sure to give it a try. I know I'll be able to spot the lake that I live near.
