5. "The Tyler name carries juice in showbiz" is what I recall her ridiculous father...
saying to her. Honest.
No wonder Todd Rundgren is just disgusted with the lot of them.

9. Maybe, but Liv Tyler is just more memorable than Liv Rundgren.
Has a younger, sexier feel to it, no matter one's opinion of either of her fathers.

11. I dunno. I can see Liv Rundgen being a very marketable, distinguished actor name
Not only bland, two syllable Anglo Saxon names are marketable these days. Some people actually go out to invent ethnicity, like going from O'Keefe to "Rhys Meyers" for a last name. That's just inventing ethnicity to get attention. On the other hand, if your dad is a super famous rock star, it's not a bad idea to take his name just to remind casting directors that you're around.

15. Steven Tyler is her biological father
But her mother (Bebe Buell) was married to Todd Rundgren at the time Liv was born (or shortly thereafter) and since mom wasn't on good terms with Steve at the time (drug problems, more than likely) she raised the kid as Todd's, not telling Liv about her real dad until she was a teenager.

Which happened to be about the time she launched her career. Could she have done so with the name "Liv Rundgren"??

I doubt the teenage boys (and probably some girls) who saw her strip teases in the AeroShit videos (along with Alicia Silverstone) really cared what her name was.

26. I thought that was an interesting story
she had absolutely no idea that Todd was not her father and that Steve was in the picture at all-the way I heard the story. They told her on her 18th birthday or something like that.

It is sort of like Goldie Hawn and one of the Hudson brothers (who later wrote songs with Aerosmith in their jail-bait video stage)

Small circles of celebrities revolving around each other

32. Okay...that 'splains it.
I don't get into celeb gossip and never have so I didn't know the story there. Only knew that Steven Tyler couldn't ever deny paternity as much as she looks like him.

Thanx! :hi:

usually in the context of joking about something being "too Jewey"

7. My favorite is Stewart Granger
He had to change his name because another actor was already using it.

He was born James Stewart.

My second favorite is Engelbert Humperdinck. He had a perfectly decent name, Arnold George Dorsey, but deliberately changed it to the name of a German composer from the 1800s.

17. Similar story with David Bowie
He really didn't want a stage name. But when he named his first band "Davy Jones and the Lower Third", people kept getting him confused with another English singer with the same name.

10. Some of these make sense, but why did Previous Slide change to "Next Slide"
These Hollywood marketing decisions just confuse me sometimes. Like if you were a musician and had a totally awesome birth name like "Darryl Dragon," wouldn't you use it professionally?

All kidding aside aside, I went to undergrad school with a girl named Anita Dick.

She insisted on being called by her middle name.

29. Never knew Peter's first name was George.
Knew about the others' names though. Ironic that Ace had to make up his name because there was already a "Paul" in the band. Even though "Paul" was really Stanley.
