2. Variation
of the old Bill Buckner joke, who committed a similar blunder in baseball in the World Series.

4. I don't know if this is a joke or not but I will say this, as a non sports fan.
This is just a game.

7. It just isn't this sport, it is sports in general.
You or your importance in the world shouldm't be linked to a game.

I just don't get it.

10. Look at the player from Colombia
He kicked in an own goal in a game against the US in the World Cup - he ended up getting killed.

6. well, change the name to Bill Buckner
and change England to Red Sox and it's just a recycled joke from the 1986 World Series.

13. Bwah-ha-HAH!1 Excellent!1
The dude is about in the same situation as the horse, here:

In an Olympics in the ('80s?), at a cantina in Mexico, each competitor at first appearance had his country's name in huge block letters covering the whole screen: GREAT BRITAIN. AUSTRALIA. SLOVENIA, etc.

The Mexicans waited patiently but with anticipation for the first MEXICO.

The first week dragged into the second week and no sign of "MEXICO". The patrons started losing interest and a mood of dejection took hold.

Finally, in the whadayacallit, where the horses jump the fences/hurdles, there was this beautiful stallion and "MEXICO" covered the screen.

CHEERS broke out!1 And the horse started off, galloping gallantly, galloping, galloping...

And then, it arrived at the hurdle, and BAM!1 SAT DOWN!1 The patrons froze, cheers choked off.

I don't know the rules, but they gave it another chance? They walked the horse around to the starting spot, and the whole SAME thing happened again!1

The patrons groaned and muttered. Somebody said, "When that horse gets back to Mexico, it's going to be SHOT!1"
