She looks for everything from new recipes to needlepoint patterns to family history reseacrh to lyrics from her favorites songs from her teens. She also runs websites for her local choir and AARP group.

It is all about The Google -- use it often. Have fun exploring -- I know you will be amazed at all the cool stuff you will be finding!

Your host's profile mentions Houston. Is that where you are watching this? I grew up in the Houston area. I see via Google Earth that the neighborhood ditches I used to play in have been buried or paved. That's too bad. I loved seeing all of the minnows and toads and bullfrogs and snappers and crawfish and garters and tyhe odd cotton mouth in the deep ditch just one house from my front door. Most of all I miss Luther's barbeque on Kirby drive, ha ha. Enjoy the internet. It's not as boring as it might seem at the start. There are entire books on the net. Just search for what you are intersted in.

My Dad was living at home but he has lots of medical problems now.

I kept him out of a home for as long as I could but the time finally came.

I do agree that many people are put in a home that don't have to be.

I visit a local nursing home and there are many people who could have stayed home with just a little help.

He is thinking about it.

He did enjoy the website, and said I have lots of nice friends here.

The home has a computer class taught my older people, I signed him up.

I think he will be on DU in awhile, he is a great lifetime Democrat.

And of course, the world's newspapers and magazines

Then, all the stuff on DVD. We just purchased the National Geographic disks containing all the magazine issues. That will probably take the rest of our lives to read through.

As I see it, the net is a blessing for us old folks.
