Anyone ever go to the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec? |
|
I am thinking of going there for the upcoming July 4th weekend since it is somewhere I have never been and I feel like I have been everywhere within a 750 mile radius of NYC. Seems like it could be interesting!

It's absolutely beautiful. We stayed at the provincial park near Mt St Albert. I loved it because it was so isolated. No McDonald's, no phone wires, rarely a plane overhead. I'd go back in a minute.

my vacation. I love isloated infrequently visited places. If I had time, Outer Mongolia or Siberia would be of extreme interest to me!
I will focus on the far end of the peninsula, but hopefully I will have time for some of the mountains a bit to the west of that. Then I will come back to NY by way of New Brunswick through Maine. Only issue for the whole trip is my dog. I definitely want to bring my dog - hopefully I can gather the vet papers required for the border quickly! I am taking the chance to go because my girflriend hates long roadtrips (whereas I LOVE them because I am so into exploring) and she has to go to Japan for three weeks because her grandma had surgery recently and wants to see her.
I think I would like to take two weeks to expore Newfoundland and some of the remote sections of Quebec near Labrador. I always look at the map and fantasize about going to the unusual parts of the world!

I'm sure the Gaspe is at least as gorgeous and peaceful. Go, by all means. You'd like PEI too, I'm sure.

meeting a biologist while hiking in Maine back in 1982. He had just come back from spending a few years there.
Maybe now that we are back on the East coast we can finally see what he (the biologist) was talking about :-).

Camped alongside a rushing stream in the Parc National de la Gaspesie near Mt. Albert. Drove up from NYC, spent 4 days there and stayed two days/nights in Quebec City on the way home....
I recommend heartily......
