Do you have to heat up canned sardines? |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-10-10 06:21 PM by Jayendra Sandeep
Or can I eat them just out of the can in a sandwich? There are no instructions in the can.

Just don't do on a midwatch. It will piss off everyone on the bridge.
Long story.

6. Your neighbors will thank you NOT to heat them up. |
|
And I know this because once when Ginger was a kitten, I thought he might enjoy his (fish) cat food more if I heated it a little. The odor could have awakened the dead.

I never heat them up, but there's nothing in the rule book that says you can't. They are rather fragile, so I suspect if you heat them up they will pretty much disintegrate when you try to pick them up afterward. You can also use them in recipes. I like to use them in fish stew. All sardines aren't created equal. There are various types of fish that are called sardines and generally the more expensive they are, the better fish you get. Brisling is my favorite and they are the most expensive. They are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, so I generally try to eat one or two tins per week.

Cold, Skinner. Stone-cold killer.
(I am of-course joking. I'm certain that whatever he got the pizza delivery for, it wasn't the OP of this thread.)

but for gawd's sake, do NOT heat them up. Sheesh. Even better, kippered herring or pickled herring. Lots of saltines and a good cold beer. :toast:
